How much does WCA cost?
Membership is completely free - however, some events do cost money to attend.
Can non-members and guests attend events?
No, we'd like to shift our focus and foster stronger bonds within the WCA community. That means as of July 2018, events will be strictly members-only (except for an annual open event or two.)
Your friends, spouses, co-workers, BFFs, are wonderful people - but we just want you!
If I was a part of the Yahoo! Groups listserv, do I have to apply again?
Yes, we'd like everyone to apply again, mostly for practical reasons. Unfortunately, the Yahoo! Groups listserv is no longer a viable option for membership tracking or communication, and we have a lot of great things in store for the new WCA.
As of July 2018, official WCA communications will no longer go through the listserv, they will only be sent to members who have filled out the new membership application. Thank you so much, we appreciate your support as we revitalize this community.
If I am a student at SCA, am I eligible to join WCA?
If I didn't go to the USC School of Cinematic Arts, can I still apply?
No, we are an official alumni organization of USC's School of Cinematic Arts, and our membership is focused on connecting and supporting alumnae from SCA.
However, there are some exceptions - for instance, there are some entertainment-related programs at USC where students take classes at SCA, but officially get their degree from Dornsife. Check out our membership page, and email us for more information.
I don't live in Los Angeles anymore, can I still be part of WCA?
I've seen some sweet merch around. Where can I get my own WCA wine glass?
I am so excited by WCA, but I don't qualify for membership. How can I get involved?
Can I donate?
Can we hug you? Yes, we'd appreciate any financial support.
It costs money to keep the website going, and more than that, we'd love to be able to offer more features to our members. We ultimately hope to raise money to support a sophisticated member directory, a mentorship matching program, and larger and better events, so we can become an even more influential voice in advocating for women in this industry.
We are working with SCA to take advantage of USC's non-profit status - soon, any donations will be tax deductible and super easy to make. In the meanwhile, we'd appreciate even $10 to keep the lights on. We can accept cash at events, or email us for a Venmo handle.
